Are we ….. Worthy of Temptation?
Everyone I know gets tempted…..a lot.
The reason we get tempted is…..Satan hates us! That’s right. Not because we deserve it.
All our lives, we’ve been brought up to think that if someone has something against us, or dislikes us……it most probably has something to do with what we said or did (or didn’t do or say). We’ve been brought up to think it’s our fault.
So………if we’re getting tempted a lot, over and over again with the same self-hating, self-loathing, oppressive, lustful, hateful, angry, hurtful, depressive thoughts……there must be some truth to it, right? It must be our fault, at least a little, right?
NO! NO!! NO!!! NO!!!! and NO!!!!!!!
Actually, it must be the fault of the god of this world. The prince of all darkness, the wielder of death, the liar, the accuser of God’s people, the loser.
He hates everyone and everything!!! All the time in every way.
John 10:10 The thief comes not but for to steal and to kill and to destroy. I (Jesus) am come that they (who believe on me) might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
God, through the work of someone other than ourselves, has adopted us unto Himself as His beloved children. We are cherished children, spiritually dwelling in the comforting bosom of His kindness and favor. This was His desire, His decision, His accomplishment. We just jumped on board as the train went by, so to speak.
Every time Satan makes a run, an attack, at that position of loving favor we have with God our Father, he drives another nail into his own coffin.
Because just like we are going to get ours, (in full, at the return of Christ….meanwhile, in part), so he is going to get his. When the ledger is balanced and the accounts are all settled, we will be safely ensconced in the bosom of our Father. He will be destroyed forever!
Remember the above…..and enjoy the righteousness (the rightness you have….just being you) which has been given you as a free gift in the spirit of Jesus Christ. God made you righteous through the work of His son Jesus Christ. In order to be obedient to God….you’re going to have to……wait….wait…this isn’t going to be easy to hear…you’re going to have to……….enjoy your righteousness !!!!!
Hebrews 10:14 For by one offering (Jesus), He (God) has perfected forever them who are sanctified (those born of God’s sanctified spirit).
I dare you to believe it….you’re perfected forever.
One more thing. Temptation is not sin! Otherwise, we wouldn’t have a perfect Savior. Because he got tempted…..a lot!
Hebrews 4:15 For we have not a high priest who cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted, like as we are, yet without sin.
